Ride Across America

Hello! My name is Gerry Goede and I am a high school math and science teacher at Heritage Christian School in Bozeman, MT. I am in my fourth year of teaching at Heritage, after God led me to switch careers from nuclear engineering and financial management.

One of the greatest joys in teaching at Heritage is to watch God move in the hearts of students as they daily study the world around them from the perspective of God's Word. It's a delight to also address heart issues as we strive to help them develop a Biblical world view. One of my heart's desires is to see more students attend Heritage Christian School that may not have the financial means to pay all of the tuition.

Heritage Christian School does a good job of keeping tuition expenses low, but this is still a hardship for some who desire to attend. For many students and families it is a great financial sacrifice, as these families are supporting the public school system through their taxes on top of paying tuition.

“What can we do to assist these families?” my wife, Pat, and I have asked. “How can we make a difference?” By ourselves, we might be able to help one student, and that's better than none. But we wanted to do more, get others involved. But how?

Why not use what we love doing- riding our tandem bicycle - to accomplish our goal? Thus, began the idea to raise funds through a bicycle ride across America (RAAM). Our plans are to leave Seattle at the end of May and reach the Atlantic Ocean in August, a total of about 3,200 miles. We invite everyone to keep up with our progress through the RAAM Blog.

The funds raised for the Heritage Christian School Scholarship Fund Endowment will provide for tuition scholarships now and in future years. The principal funds of this endowment will not decrease, as only the interest income will be used for future scholarships.

Would you like to have a part in educating children from a Biblical perspective with a Christian worldview? Expenses for this bicycle trip will not be paid by your scholarship fund donations or by Heritage Christian School.
