Heritage Christian School Admission Procedures
ADMISSION PROCEDURES
Parents interested in enrolling their children at Heritage Christian School shall use the following process:
1. Complete an Enrollment Application.
An Enrollment Application can be requested by mail, phone, or at the school office and includes the following forms:
The Enrollment Application must be submitted on or before the Initial Interview. Students are placed on class rosters in order of the date in which their Enrollment Applications are received. Parents must complete the Initial Interview and schedule the Final Interview within thirty (30) days of being contacted.
2. Participate in an Initial Interview.
The Initial Interview takes place with the administrator, parents, and prospective student(s) for the purpose of providing a brief orientation and basic information about the school, and a tour of the campus. It is also used for conducting a general inquiry of the parents' and student's background and academic needs, Christian testimony, and interest in attending Heritage Christian School. The Initial Interview can be scheduled by contacting the school office when the Enrollment Application is requested or once it is completed.
Parents are requested to bring recent copies of their child's report cards, test scores, etc., to the Initial Interview.
3. Complete an Admissions Packet.
Following the Initial Interview parents will be provided with a Parent/Student Handbook and an Admissions Packet which includes the following forms:
Parents are required to read the Parent/Student Handbook and to submit the Admissions Packet on or before the Final Interview.
4. Take Student Entrance Test.
Each newly enrolling student is required to take a brief screening test to accurately determine his/her grade level and to identify academic strengths or weaknesses. The Student Entrance Test is administered by a teacher at Heritage Christian School and can be scheduled at any time before the Final Interview. A $25 testing fee is required at the time of the testing.
5. Participate in a Final Interview.
A Final Interview between the administrator, parents, and representative of the Board and prospective student* is used to review the Admissions Packet, entrance test results, and to discuss the policies outlined in the Parent/Student Handbook. The Final Interview may be scheduled at the time of the Initial Interview, Student Entrance Testing, or once the Admissions Packet is completed. The presence of both parents is required at the Final Interview. A registration fee is required at the Final Interview to ensure the student's place on the class roster.
Following the Final Interview, both the parents and student must sign a Handbook Pledge indicating they have read, understood, and agree to abide by the policies and procedures of Heritage Christian School. Parents must submit the following forms (included with Admissions Packet) before the student can begin classes:
* Secondary students only. Admission of secondary students (grades 7-12) is evaluated by an Admissions Committee and will be based on the student's Christian testimony, report cards and potential to perform satisfactorily at Heritage Christian School, entrance test, previous school recommendations, interviews, date of application, and past conduct and attendance.
6. Receive Notification of Admissions/Acceptance Letter.
Final acceptance of student admission is provided by written notification.
RE-ENROLLMENT FOR RETURNING STUDENTS
Re-enrollment for current students who intend to return the following year typically occurs annually on or near April 1.
